New Paintings

Well.... Not really new. I've had these done for a while, but with the hectic schedule and all, I haven't been able to post these yet.

This first one is the Skull Sessions show being held at the Bear and Bird Gallery in Lauderhill, Florida. The show opens on October 27th.

These next couple are for very first solo show that is being held at Pink Ghost, which opens on February 2, 2008. The show is titled "From the Depths." The title comes from me subconsciously starting to doodle these sea creatures once I moved to South Florida, where the marine life paintings run rampant. I guess I just wanted to do my own take on it. Also, some of the paintings in the show are from the depths of my closet, a few dating back to 2006. The style is a lot simpler and I'm mainly focused on shape, colors, and composition for these. So here they are:

oops.

Wow. Has it really been that long since I've posted? A lot of stuff has been going on lately. I've been working on a lot of new paintings for a couple different shows. Here is a short list of the upcoming shows:

-Night at the Movies at Fly Over Gallery, Madison

-Skull Sessions at Bear and Bird Gallery, Lauderhill

-Leftovers at Fly Over Gallery, Madison

-Sadly Beautiful at Black Maria Gallery, Los Angeles

-From the Depths (my first solo show!!) at Pink Ghost, Fort Lauderdale

I'll have some pics up later on today.

A couple new paintings.

I've been meaning to post these for a while now. Hope you enjoy them and thanks for looking.

Here is the link to Jeremy's portrait of me as promised:

Thanks go to Jeremy for helping me with the link. I guess if I had better HTML skills, I would have my own website up now, huh?

New Paintings

This first new painting was done to get back at a friend, Jeremy. He had done a portrait of me without my knowledge. The title of this painting is "Revenge Is a Bitch."
I can't get a link of his portrait of me to work. Once I figure it out, I'll post it. But believe me, his painting looks better.
Or, if you're impatient, just go to vanwinklebrothers.com and you might be able to come across it. His brother, Jason, is also a fantastic artist.

And lastly, here is the other painting, titled "Another Lazy Saturday."

Thanks for looking.

Pics from current series.

These are all done with collage and acrylic on illustration board. With this series, I'm pushing myself to paint more people. I'm also doing all the outlines with a brush, where before I would wuss out and go with the trusty paint markers. Sorry for the low quality pics. I need to invest in some good lighting.

I finally did it.

I've been trying to find the time to get a website up and running for what seems like forever. Between my day job, my paintings, and vinyl customs I just haven't managed to find the time. I figured why not at least set up a blog? So, here it is. The title "in progress" pretty much tells you what you can expect, a lot of progress updates for a couple different series of paintings as well as some vinyl customs that I am working on. Hopefully, I'll be able to update this frequently. Thanks for reading this and I hope you stick around.
